Gloucester High School's Njrotc has been around awhile. In 1994 Commander Harding took charge of the ROTC and in 1996 Senior Chief Petty Officer Gauthier became the ANSI. Our Rotc is a cadet runned corp.. that means the cadets make descisions concerning the corp (with a little help from Commander and Senior Chief) and Commander and Senior Chief teach the Rotc classes. The rest of the page will tell you about the corp including: teams, ranks, Chain of Command, and more...!!

CO- Commanding Officer, the guy/girl in charge

XO- Executive Officer, the second in command

OPS- Operations, in charge of advancments

Adjudant- XO and OPS positions combined

CPO- the rank Cheif Petty Officer. Also the name for a position, usually the second in

BCO- Battalion CO

CCO- Company CO

     remember all of these)

Battalion Setup

The battalion is setup in an order that makes communication easy. This allows the Corp to function properly. The chain of command is the organization so lower ranks can talk to upper ranks without jumping people and causing miscommunication . Their are several chain of commands in side the battalion chain of command.  Here is a quick run down of the Chain of Command:

BCO

BXO

2 Companies

3 Platoons for each Company

Teams

Other positions

It is easier to understand once you go to the ROSTER page and can visually see the Chain of Command.

What are the NJROTC Teams?

NJROTC has many afterschool activities which are called teams. We have the: Academic Team, Drill Team, Color Guard, Rifle Team, and Atheletic Team. Here is a description for each team:
Academic Team- This team takes competition tests. These tests have questions from our ROTC ciriculum that we learn in class. The Academic Teams learns the material and practices using simple test taking logic.
Drill Team- This team marches with and without rifles (called pieces). The team learns how to be detailed and self-controlled to march as one, perfect unit.
Color Guard- The Color Guard marches with our Flags (called colors). They carry the American Flag, The Navy Flag, and our Unit Flag. They practice extreme detail and the ability to march as exactly one unit.
Rifle Team- The Rifle Teams shoot air rifles. They shot at 11 yards and their target our about the size of a quater (the bulleye is the exact size of the pellet).
Atheletic Team- The Atheletic team competes in flied competitions consiting of: Tug of War, Push-ups, sit-ups, and many running events. All of the events have multipule people competeing for each team making it a combined, team effort.

All the Teams practice on set days of the week. Each team requires that all work toghter as one unit to win. Each team have competitions that they compete at. The Drill Team and Color Guard compete at Drill Meets. Several are held every year. The other teams have their own events or may compete at the Drill Meets. The final Area 5 meet has an event for each team.

Our Njrotc helps out in the community alot. We march for several parades, help out in festivals and school activities. We often preform our Color Guard and Drill Team for community and school activities. People our very proud of our Rotc and we are well respected by the school and community.
